Describe it

Quote to remove wasp nest from house walls

Let us know the gap the wasps are using, roughly how far off the ground, and any activity you have noticed indoors. Wasps inside a room tell us the nest is close to the lining, and that changes how we treat it.

How it is done

How do you treat a wasp nest wall cavity?

Reviewed by the Wasp Control Victoria team

Wasp nest removal in wall cavity spaces and roofs happens through the gap the wasps use: a weep hole, a vent, the join under the eaves, a lifted tile or a split in the cladding. We puff a registered insecticide dust or foam through that gap so it spreads through the whole nest.

Then we leave the entry open for a day or two. Returning foragers carry the treatment in. Blocking the gap too early is what sends wasps chewing through plasterboard into bedrooms.

After that the dead comb can simply stay put; wasps store no honey, so there is little to smell. Renovating that wall, or dealing with a monster nest? We can open the lining and lift it out for a separate price.

Signs of a wasp nest in the roof or wall

You will notice the traffic, the noise or the wasps indoors long before you see comb.

Traffic at a weep hole

A steady line of wasps into one gap in the brickwork.

One room keeps getting wasps

Always the same bedroom window or downlight.

A soft patch in the lining

Plasterboard that bulges, darkens or looks chewed. Leave it alone.

Crackling in the wall

A papery scratching sound on warm afternoons.

Wasps at the eaves

Wasps slipping into the gap where the eave lining meets the wall.

An autumn surge

Traffic that climbs sharply from February.

Where they build

Remove wasp nest from eaves, roofs, walls and chimneys

Each spot needs a slightly different approach.

Wall cavities

Brick veneer and weatherboard walls entered through weep holes and vents. Treated from outside at the entry.

Remove wasp nest from eaves

The eave lining gap is a favourite. Any comb we can see is lifted off after treatment.

Roof voids

A cracked tile, loose capping or a gap at the barge is all it takes. We treat from the outside or up in the ceiling.

Wasp nest in chimney

Old flues are dry and sheltered. We treat inside the flue and recommend a cowl afterwards.

What does wasp nest in wall removal cost?

Anything inside the building counts as a hidden nest: from $249 to $399, driven by height and how easy the gap is to reach.

Should I tape over the gap the wasps use?

No. A blocked entry can send wasps chewing through the lining into the room. Leave it open and call us.

Do you take the nest out of the wall?

Only if you want it out. Most treated nests stay in the cavity. If you want it removed, we quote the wall work first.

Can wasps chew through plasterboard?

European wasps can, particularly when their usual entry is blocked.

How do you remove wasp nest in wall brickwork?

We work through their own doorway, the weep hole or gap, so the product reaches the comb inside. Then the doorway is left alone for a day or two.

Can you reach nests under two storey eaves?

Yes. We use extension gear and ladders and take the exposed comb down once it is treated.

How often is there a wasp nest in chimney flues?

Now and then, mostly in chimneys nobody uses. Bees choose flues more often.

Will a dead wasp nest smell?

Hardly ever. It is dry paper with no honey stored in it.

Can we use the room next to the nest?

Usually yes. Shut the windows on that side until tomorrow and ring if any wasps get inside.

Can I remove a wasp nest from house walls myself?

We would not advise it. Nests in walls and roofs are hidden and defended, and a mistake can bring them indoors.

Is there cover after treatment?

Half a year on each nest we treat, eaves and roof voids included.
